Welcome to Retired and Ready To….
I can tell you right now, it does not seem like it has been over six years since we [tag]retired[/tag]. I used to make fun of people who said that time seemed to go faster as a person ages. I don’t make fun of them any more. Our time here in the paradise called SoCal seems to just fly by, we can’t be more than halfway through 2007. I think it is just a part of the [tag]retirement adventure[/tag].
Since we retired, we’ve made an interesting discovery. We tend to view people with whom we interact as fitting into one of two catagories. Because we live in a retirement community, a good number of them are people who are already retired. They don’t have a “regular” job, but trust me, these people are quite active but not at a JOB.
Just about everyone else we meet falls in the second group. They are what we call the “ready to retire” folks. On any given day, we interact with a number of young, middle aged and even older entrepreneurs who have found their life and/or marketing niche. These folks are doing what they want to do and are excited, enriched, and are making serious money while they are at it.
However, we have found that if we visit with them and steer the discussion toward retirement, each of them will make a wistful reference along the lines of “when I retire, I will (you fill in the blank here).” Often it is about having more time and spending that time with family and friends. Sometimes it’s about special [tag]places to retire[/tag] to, travel, playing golf, gardening, extended learning, getting organized, or just reading a book. Anything but going to that JOB.
It is that “I am going to….” part of [tag]retirement[/tag] that we are going focus on at this site. We and others will explore and share everything about retirement within our pages, posts and comments throughout the site. Whether it involves the [tag]retirement planning[/tag], the actual experience or even the day dreaming part, it is fair game here.
You are welcome here, please join us as we explore the retirement adventure!
